
More and more mobile service subscribers who communicate with instant Mesengger (IM). One factor driving the cost of communication. IM judged more efficient than telephone or SMS. Not only an increase from the user side, a survey conducted by Microsoft in Southeast Asia noted that IM has become a new genre of communication as well as lifestyle.
"We saw that in general, the user has moved from simply using IM chat services, to better service more than that, namely as a provider of a platform for finding and sharing, as well as one of the main communication tool at work, home and cell phones, "said Craig Smith Law, Asian Marketing Director, Microsoft Online Services Group.
Smith added that the Southeast Asian region, IM has become part of your lifestyle. This phenomenon is also revealed from the survey conducted by Microsoft. IM has been used for almost anything ranging from communicating with colleagues, gossiping, a date, infidelity and even resigned from the job. Interestingly, there was a girl with an IM application.
Online survey with 1400 respondents in Southeast Asia, found that as many as 94 percent of them claimed to use IM for social communication and 54 percent have used it at the time was working. Interestingly, a person seem more serious when typing an IM.
IM has become a new trend among office workers. From the number of respondents who use IM at work, as much as 44.3 percent of them spend between 10 to 30 percent of the time working for online, while more than 10 percent of respondents said that they used more than 80 percent of their work time to use IM.
So if the majority of work time used to send or receive an IM, then when they work? What about their productivity. The majority of respondents (59.4%) did not agree with the assumption that IM reduces prdouktivitas. Instead IM actually increase productivity.
"Typing on IM much faster than email or telephone lifted. IM is a communication tool that is more easily used when communicating with colleagues, leaders and even the client, and allows me to send the document and discuss the specific visualization directly, "said Mohammad Reza Khadafi, 29, a creative worker.

Nearly one third (37.7%) respondents said they use IM to communicate with colleagues; 12.1 percent of the clients; and almost 10 percent with their leaders. "With IM, you can find the person we are communicating are on the table or attend the meeting. If they exist, they will respond immediately, if not, we are now looking for another, "added Khadafi.
IM also becomes an integral part of one's social activities. 86.5% of the respondents in Southeast Asia said that they would use IM to ask someone out, even 6.8% of respondents said that they would apply for one online. Interestingly, while people think that taking someone out through IM is acceptable, only a third of respondents (33.3%) claimed to be declared off through IM.
